was apparantly a couple of months ago!
according to Lugnet we formed in Mar. 1999 on their dates formation page but the VL Lugnet newsgroup was formed in Sep, 1998. this makes us the 2nd lug formed in Canada and the 11th altogether, the first Canadian lug being rtlToronto which has the auspices of the 3rd lug formed!

in this case, I think the numbers are pretty cool 
I was on Lugnet ( as I'm wont to be at times, no need to explain that ) and came across the VL newsgroups and it occured to me that I hadn't really looked through them in quite awhile, then just going back and back and was surprised at how far back it went! then followed a link by Todd posted early on which led me to the dates page and was really surprised at how early on VL was formed. to be fair, VL 2.0 was sparked about 6 yrs ago and brought together by Ted, but this early history is very interesting and I can use these newsgroup posts to add some event and meeting dates.
