Pick-A-Brick Feedback

Post by J1A3L5 »

Hello everyone,
LEGO is collecting information to decide what direction to take the Pick-A-Brick selection and they want your help!

LEGO would like to know what sort of pieces you are most interested in seeing at Pick-A-Brick. Bricks? Plates? Slopes? Minifigure Pieces? Train bits? Windows? Wheels? And so on...

What percentage of the total PaB selection do you think each of these categories (and any others you come up with!) do you think should make up the upcoming PaB pallet?

Finally, are there any particular pieces you do or don't want to see?

Thanks,
-John.
LEGO Ambassador.

I've been pondering this for a while. I think I have used the online PaB once and it was an OK experience. I am not sure how they could improve it however. Perhaps my experiences of IRL PaB "walls" at the four LEGO stores I have actually visited has shaped my expectations unreasonably.

PRICE: my number one concern is price and here the online system keeps me at arms length. Sometimes the prices are good but more often they seem to be really out of whack from prices on BL. Sorry but that is a reality. I also like being able to fill a cup or tub or bag for a set price in the IRL PaB.

SELECTION: I find it tedious to try and find what I need and while I appreciate that they change the selection of parts regularly I cannot depend on finding the part I need when I need it so I stop looking.

MINIFIGS: for me this is the one area they could excel at. If they increased their selection of minifig parts and accessories they could, I think, be competitive and useful.

WISH LIST: if somehow they could allow users to create a wish list and be notified if a part appears in a new pallete update.... Yeah, very difficult. Heck I might as well wish that they connected to the BL system so they appeared as just another shop. ;)

The online Lego PAB is a service I've never used, I just go to BL first. Most of what I'm looking for is generally elements that are out of production, if there was a way for Lego to offer limited quantities of out of prodcution run pieces or sets then that would really grab my attention.

Exclusive bricks you could only get on Lego PAB would be of interest too, such as coveted flame bricks: link , link , link , link , link

Having a wide variety of minifig elements is always a draw. I am generally of 2 minds when it comes to BL and PAB orders and purchases. Sometimes I do very targeted purchases where I'm buying many elements but just a few of each one, that is generally minifig-centric. Other times I will buy just a few elements and silly amounts of them, when I go that route it's usually modified bricks and plates.

To compete with my BL habit, Lego would have to bring something more to the table as I see the online Lego PAB as a crippled version of BL. There are benefits, the bricks are factory fresh, the shipping and business is totally accountable for and you won't be running into quantity issues like you might with some BL stores.

Even if the exclusive was if you spend this much then you get this pressie, if you spend this much then that one etc. I *really* enjoy getting Lego in the mail and I'm just the sort of person who does this sort of thing, but at the moment have little interest in the current setup. I hope this dosn't come off as negative, I want to be candid if it helps to improve the service!
